CAREER BACKGROUND

WRITER and EDITOR: books, magazine articles, literary history, countless profile biographies, educational videos, Alberta Education curriculum writing, editing, and development, writing storyboard research and web content, editing online courses, project management, writing, editing & development of training resources, diverse in-depth research, writing and editing smaller publications such as  reports, pitching stories and organizing lineups, co-publisher and Editor-in-Chief of TEACHING TODAY magazine with North American distribution. Her clientele include book and periodical publishing houses, multimedia businesses (print, video, and web page content), various educational facilities, private businesses, information/training projects for corporations and not-for-profit organizations, as well as municipal, provincial, and federal governments. Note: A founding member of the Editors’ Association of Alberta and its first PR Director.

COMMUNICATIONS and MEDIA: Project consulting, Arts and Culture spokesperson, community spokesperson & advocate (radio, print, TV), CKO Radio (copy chief, interviews, research, and reviews), art agent and coordinator, committee work, presenter, and emcee.

EDUCATOR: Researches, designs, develops, writes, and teaches sessional writing and editing courses and specialized workshops to organizations such as the University of Alberta; Edmonton Police Service; Human Resources Development Canada/Dr. Battle & Associates (prepped students for GED English, Social Studies, & Literature, taught job search skills; journal writing, improving writing skills, public speaking, and more); Indian and Northern Affairs; Literacy associations; Writers Guild of Alberta; and Metro Continuing Education. Note: Learning audiences range from youth to adult.

MANAGING: Managing projects, working on teams or forming teams with client staff/administrators, merging project goals with other joint venture businesses, conferring with subject matter experts, and when required, procuring and working with writers, editors, designers, and technical/production personnel. 

LABOUR of LOVE PROJECTS: Primarily focused on environment issues. Most recent involvement regards protecting  Alberta’s Rockies, Eastern slopes, and Headwaters. In addition to participating in and promoting letter, rally, petition, virtual, and email campaigns, her major endeavour has been to initiate, ensure proper government petition format was used, then organize, mobilize, and act as the major contact and collection source for a  province-wide petition addressed to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, in support of Bill 214, Eastern Slopes Protection Act (or similar Bill).
