Margaret Barry’s diverse fulltime communications and publishing career encompasses writing, co-writing, and contributor writer to numerous trade and education books such as New You, Skiing Alberta, Canoeing Alberta, Canadian Connections, Alberta Album: A Living Past, and Sacred Circle.

Editor Publications

As an editor, her book titles—to name a few—are University of Alberta Press publications: Emblems of Empire; BRILLIANT Strokes: Chinese Paintings from the Mactaggart Art Collection; and Dressed to Rule: Focus on Eighteenth-century Chinese Court Attire from the Mactaggart Art Collection, and a Development Editor for Oxford University Press, PERSPECTIVES ON NATIONALISM.

Magazine Publications

Her fondness for “the immediacy of magazine work” is demonstrated by her experience as the former co-publisher and Editor-in-Chief of TEACHING TODAY magazine and by her published articles in magazines such as Canadian Musician, This Magazine, Great Expectations, Edmonton, Newsmagazine, Reed Career Magazine, Alberta Report (The Weekly Newsmagazine), interface (THE WEST’S VIEW OF THE ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT), City Magazine, Agriculture & Forestry BULLETIN, Edmonton Woman, WestWord, AMPIA, and Legacy.

Industry and Training

Also included in her long list of credits are project manager, instructional designer, researcher, writer, and editor for learning and training resources for Industry clients.

Script Writing

Her script writing and web content writing includes storyboard development and lead research/writer for celebrated Heritage Community Foundation websites: University of Alberta Centenary, Volunteerism in Alberta, and Métis of Alberta.
